💼 Mars expands its snack empire with Kellan's $36 billion dollar company!
Company Mars, founded in 1911, is a global leader in the food industry, best known for its iconic sweets such as M&M's, Snickers, Twix and Milky Way. In addition to confectionery, it has Mars has a strong presence in the pet food industry, where it owns brands such as Pedigree and Whiskas.
The company is still a family business, which allows it to plan and invest in innovation for the long term. Unfortunately, the company's stock is not publicly traded, and the company would rank among giants like Coca-Cola or Pepsi.
Mars decided to strengthen its position in the snack market through the strategic acquisition of Kellan's $K, the maker of the popular Pringles. This $36 billiondeal will bring together some of the largest consumer product brands under one roof and presents exciting opportunities for future growth. 🚀
Shares of Kellan's, which focuses on salty snacks and cereals, soared after the announcement of more than 7 % to $80.25. Mars plans to invest in expanding its snack offerings, including healthier alternatives, reflecting current market trends and increasing demand for healthier products.
In addition, this acquisition strengthens the company's position Mars in the US snack market, where it will be able to compete more effectively.
This transaction also outperforms the historic acquisition of Wrigley of Wrigley 2008 for more than $23 billion and with minimal portfolio overlap, it shouldn't face major regulatory hurdles. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of the year 2025 a Kellan's will become part of Mars Snacking, with a new headquarters in Chicago.
Would you invest in this company if it were publicly traded? Do you own stock in any of these snack manufacturers?
Thanks for the new info. I didn't know about this company and judging by the brands they own, it's a great company. I don't know if I would invest in it though.
Those who can still make it will still buy shares at a lower price before the buyout occurs. For the big fish, this is paradise.
