📈 The London Stock Exchange wants to get closer to continuous trading.

In the first half of 2027, it plans to launch the LSE 24 platform, which will enable trading even outside regular opening hours. Initially, it is expected to offer mainly exchange-traded products, but individual stocks could be added later.

This could be an interesting change for more active investors. A lot of people today practically watch the markets all day, checking futures already in the morning, European exchanges during the day, and still following the US action in the evening. When important news, earnings, or a geopolitical event occurs outside classic trading hours, there is nothing left but to wait for the market to open and see where the price even appears.

For me personally, the option of continuous trading would be practically useless. Since I buy positions for long-term holding, I don't care whether I open a position at the beginning of trading hours or at the end. In my opinion, it could be used mainly by people who really actively follow the markets, frequently adjust positions, or want to react immediately after new information is released. However, the question of liquidity and wider bid-ask spreads outside main trading hours remains.

How about you? Do you check your portfolio only occasionally, or do you have the markets open practically all day? And would you appreciate the ability to buy and sell stocks almost anytime?
