Preliminary EU tariffs on Chinese electric cars

Preliminary duties:

- EU plans to impose preliminary duties on Chinese electric cars

- Tariff range: 17.4% to 37.6%

- Effective from Friday

Target of the measures:

- To prevent damage to EU industry

Final decision:

- Deadline for final duty decision: 2 November

- Interested parties can express their views until 18 July

Commission report:

- Confirmation of preliminary findings with possible adjustments expected

- Definitive duties subject to approval by EU Member States

- Definitive duties may be in force for up to five years

Scrutiny and legal challenges:

- Producers who evade duties may be subject to scrutiny

- Legal challenges can be lodged with the European Court of Justice and the World Trade Organisation

- This process can take more than a year

The EU again...they want to support domestic production, I understand that, but I think people want foreign electric cars (at least in the current situation).
