🚗 Car rental companies Hertz and Avis significantly strengthen after the announcement of the tariffs!
In a world where any economic measure can rewrite the investment mood, one interesting twist has emerged: car rental companies Hertz $HTZ and Avis $CAR, which have long been under market pressure, have risen sharply in recent days.

This is due to President Trump 's announced plan to impose 25% tariffs on imported vehicles, which could significantly increase the price of new cars on the US market. At a time when the price of the average new car in the United States already exceeds $48,000, the new duty could add thousands more.

That's where the rental companies come into play. If consumers simply can't afford or don't want new cars, the alternative of short- or medium-term rentals now makes a lot more sense. Shares in Hertzcar rental companies have jumped by 23,8 %, Avis gained 23 %. This comes after a year in which both companies wrote down nearly half their value.

The prospect of higher car prices is spilling over into other segments - particularly the auto parts market. Consumers are expected to keep their current vehicles longer, which means a higher frequency of repairs and more demand for maintenance. Beneficiaries of this include O'Reilly Automotive $ORLY, AutoZone $AZO and Advance Auto Parts $AAP, whose shares rose in response to the report by 2,5-5 %.

At the other end of the spectrum are automakers with extensive global supply chains. General Motors is writing off more than 11 %, as the new tariffs could significantly disrupt the flow of parts and components and make production more expensive.

At a time when markets are tight and the automotive sector is under constant pressure, car rental companies may be a surprising winner.

What is your view on this segment? Is anyone investing in this segment?

The car companies are making a terrible loss on this now, and BMW, for example, is burning money, but these aforementioned companies could easily make a profit.

This is a very interesting idea, and in some short-term time frame, the shares of these companies could rise solidly.

This could be a pretty good opportunity and if the stock erases that rise again, I would take a closer look at $HTZ.
