🎬 Disney $DIS is in for quite an interesting period ahead, especially regarding its strongest film franchises.

A lot of attention is now on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which showed that audiences still have huge interest in the big Marvel characters. Of course, with Spider-Man, it's worth remembering that the rights and money from the film are shared with Sony, so it's not purely Disney's success. But for Marvel, it's another proof that its biggest brands still work.

And that's far from the end. Marvel has Avengers: Doomsday ahead, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars. The new Avengers will be a much more important test of whether Marvel can return to the era when its films were practically a must-see in cinemas.

⭐ Interesting things are also brewing around Star Wars. After a multi-year pause, Disney wants to bring the brand back to cinemas in a bigger way, and alongside other projects, a film called Star Wars: Starfighter with Ryan Gosling is in the works. If Star Wars can be reignited on the big screen, Disney can again fully leverage another of its most valuable brands alongside Marvel.

And that's exactly what I find interesting about Disney from an investment perspective. The company has Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, classic Disney brands, Avatar, and other huge names. But recent years have shown that owning great brands is not enough on its own – they must produce films and series that people actually want to see.

Now it looks like we have several really big projects lined up. I'm curious to see if that starts to show more significantly in Disney's numbers.

Do any of you have Disney in your portfolio? And do you still believe in Marvel and Star Wars as brands that can drive Disney long-term?

I had it, but no longer do. I didn't want to hold it in the current sideways trend. BTW, that Spider-Man is really a blockbuster at the box office.

Since the Covid era, the price has just been flat and moving sideways. I bought a few shares around $80, so I'm curious how the new projects will move the price.
