If you like space, here's a company that may enable commercial spaceflight in the near future. Virgin Galactic $SPCE-3.3%

I'm not going to introduce the company, since everyone probably knows it. Many of us certainly love watching this because space is just fascinating and there is so much we still don't know. What we do know, however, is that it's an industry that is rather uninvestable, as it eats up huge costs from research to materials to raw materials that are needed to make such a journey from the surface of the planet. This sector will probably always have to be subsidised.

Now, $SPCE-3.3% has announced that it plans to launch its first commercial flights into space at the end of this month. And the stock has responded to this by rising 44% in premarket trading. The first space flight, dubbed Galactic 01, is scheduled for June 27 through June 30. The science mission will carry a scientific payload and three crew members from the Italian Air Force and the Italian National Research Council to conduct microgravity research. Galactic 02 will launch in early August and will carry private astronauts. After that, lunar commercial space flights are planned. Virgin Galactic completed its last test flight on May 25. The $SPCE-3.3% has a backlog of 800 passengers in line for flights, CNBC reported. The June launch will mark a significant milestone toward the goal of flying regular commercial space flights.

I like this sector, but as I said at the beginning, it's still not viable for these companies because they simply swallow the huge costs. I'm cheering them on, just like Musk with his "conquest" of space. Of course, if it is a success and we are already at the point technologically where really flying into space becomes the next station of tourism, then it could start to make sense and there could be some interesting profits to be made, after all there are plenty of millionaires and billionaires in the world who would love to take on such an adrenaline-pumping and exciting experience. 😁

What about you folks, would you have the courage to fly into space and how do you view this sector or is there any such fan who has shares in the company and believes in its growth?

When you say uninvestable I assume you mean high risk? Because if space travel becomes a norm, it is not only going to be millionaires and billionaires using it. That would be the case if we compare with how the aviation industry took off.

I really like this company too... and the whole idea of going into space is awesome! I'm just afraid of what will happen to a worthy stock once the first accident happens...

Thanks for the nice article.

This stock is pure speculation for me and I would never buy stock in this company.

However, this sector is quite interesting.

However, I do like this sector and would be happy if there was a company with a similar focus.

The universe fascinates me, but I also like my money and I don't really invest here😅

Nice article. Thanks. Unfortunately for me this stock is forgotten and drowned not going very deep in the stock market. If SpaceX ever comes to market, it could be interesting.

Don't get mad at me, but this can only be bought on some trading. When I look at how bad the business is aurolinky, which targets a much larger customer base, it must be clear to everyone that this has no chance to earn its way into space for a select few sponsored from their pockets shareholders.

They currently have 800 bookings, even if the price of the flight doubles again in the future, where is the ceiling? A million, two... five? How many of these rockets can they pull off without CF.... exploding in their wildest dreams, perhaps 20-50 in 10-20 years?

Let everyone calculate it, but in order to trade at some reasonable P/E of say 30, they would have to have a fleet of planes like Concorde, and that will eat up so much money that the ticket will come to 50k usd, and who will pay for that when they can rent a private plane that may not be there as fast, but they can enjoy the flight quite a bit;)

As you write yourself, it's uninvestable, a lot of money will be sunk in before the result comes. But I follow these companies and their progress. And I'm secretly hoping for a SpaceX IPO :D

In the future, these may be highly profitable companies, perhaps not so much those focused on exploration flights, but those that will be engaged in the search for minerals and raw materials on other planets. At the moment such investment is pure speculation, these companies don't have proper numbers so they rely on success for their missions.
