Google introduces new subscription-based AI assistant Gemini
Google has announced major changes to its artificial intelligence, which include a rebranding of its AI chatbot and assistant. The existing Bard AI now goes by the name Gemini and comes with a new app and subscription options.
The rebranding, which comes due to increased competition in the AI space, is a testament to Google's long-term commitment to the development of AI assistants. Gemini, the incumbent Bard, becomes a competitor to OpenAI's well-known ChatGPT.
According to Google's announcement, users have new ways to access Gemini. Adedicated appis available for Android users , while iPhone users can use Gemini directly in the Google app on iOS.
Rebranding is part of Google's broader strategy to develop intelligent assistants and agentsthat are designed to increase productivity and meet the demands of users across multiple domains.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence during a recent annual newsletter. Pichai said the company's goal is to create an AI assistant that will be able to perform increasingly more tasks for the userincluding within Google search.
"Google's AI should allow it to act more like an agent over time, if I were to think about the future and maybe go beyond just answering and tracking for users even more."

The new changes also include the ability to AI subscriptions for users who want access to Google's most powerful AI models. Subscribers can use Gemini Ultra for a monthly fee of $20.
The renaming has also affects the company's other services Google, such as Duet AI, tools designed to boost productivity within Google Workspace and Google Cloud.
