📊 HP has reported mixed results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024, prompting mixed reactions in the market. While earnings fell short of expectations, CEO Enrique Lores believes the company has better times ahead thanks to growing interest in AI-enabled computers and planned cost-cutting. Following the announcement today, shares rose more than 5 % 🚀.
HP's📉 Printing division continues to struggle, facing strong competition and changing market conditions. Printer revenue declined year-over-year by 3 %.
🖥 On the other hand, revenue from personal systems grew by 5 %, mainly due to growing demand for commercial computers
(+8 %), while sales of consumer computers fell by 1 %. This growth was boosted by companies upgrading their systems ahead of the impending end of Windows 10 support in 2025.
📈 Global shipments of traditional PCs also returned to growth - after eight quarters of decline, we saw a second consecutive quarter of market pick-up (up 3%). However, it still faces challenges, particularly in China and Europe.
But 💡 Key to this are the $1.6 billioncost-cutting plans to help improve profitability. HP is trying to be "more aggressive" in this area, particularly in the print division, to better counter pricing pressure from competitors.
