📅 What to watch in the markets this week?
Earnings season is slowly kicking into high gear, and this week several interesting companies are reporting that could significantly move the market. There won't be as much macro data this time, so most attention will likely shift to corporate results.
🚗 Monday
Results before the market open: Domino’s Pizza $DPZ and Ryanair $RYAAY.
On the macro front, the US Leading Economic Index will be released. Markets will also be reacting to weekend geopolitical developments and potential oil price movements.
🏭 Tuesday
Before the market open: General Motors $GM, 3M $MMM, Northrop Grumman $NOC and Novartis $NVS.
After the market close: Interactive Brokers $IBKR.
For GM, I'll be mainly interested in whether margins are improving and how the EV business is doing. I'm also curious whether management will say anything about tariff impacts. 3M's results will be important for organic growth, margins, and legal liabilities, while Interactive Brokers will show us investor activity and client asset inflows.
The macroeconomic calendar will be light on Tuesday, so corporate earnings may dictate the main market direction.
🤖 Wednesday
Before the market open: AT&T $T, Philip Morris $PM, GE Vernova $GEV.
After the market close: Alphabet $GOOG, Tesla $TSLA, IBM $IBM, ServiceNow $NOW and Texas Instruments $TXN.
The most watched will be Alphabet and Tesla results. For Alphabet, I recommend watching advertising revenue growth, Google Cloud, AI infrastructure costs, and Gemini monetization; for Tesla, vehicle deliveries, automotive margins, pricing policy, and investments in autonomous driving and robotics.
IBM's results will also be important after the previous warning of a weaker quarter.
🧠 Thursday
Before the market open: Comcast $CMCSA, Honeywell $HON, Lockheed Martin $LMT, RTX $RTX and T-Mobile US $TMUS.
After the market close: Intel $INTC, SAP $SAP.
The biggest focus will likely be on Intel. Markets will watch the performance of the traditional chip business, contract manufacturing, margins, and further restructuring costs.
Lockheed Martin and RTX will offer another look at the strength of demand in the defense industry.
From macro data, US initial jobless claims will be released. The figure could influence market expectations ahead of the Fed's next decision.
💳 Friday
Before the market open: American Express $AXP, Verizon $VZ, Volkswagen $VOW3.DE and Moneta $MONET.PR.
For Verizon, it's important to watch the trend in mobile subscribers, revenue per user, and free cash flow. Volkswagen, I think, will indicate how European automakers are really doing. I'll also be watching Moneta, as one of the first Czech banks reporting results.
Friday's macroeconomic schedule will be the most interesting of the whole week. Flash manufacturing and services PMIs for July will be released, along with new home sales data.
Personally, I'm most looking forward to Wednesday. Google, Tesla, and IBM all on one day will be quite a ride, I think.
Earnings season is in full swing, which events will you be watching this week? Are you planning any buys or sells?
