🛡️ CrowdStrike $CRWD is a rather interesting example of how quickly the market can forget a big problem.
You may remember the summer of 2024, when a faulty CrowdStrike update caused one of the largest global IT outages. Systems of airlines, banks, hospitals and other companies around the world stopped working. Just in the first day, around 5,000 flights were cancelled and CrowdStrike shares fell sharply.
But when you look at the long-term chart today, the whole decline looks almost like a minor blip.
The company managed to recover from the issue and its business continues to grow. After all, fresh results showed continued strong demand for cybersecurity. CrowdStrike beat expectations and raised its full-year revenue outlook, and the shares reacted to the results by rising more than 8%.
For me, it's a nice reminder that a big company problem doesn't automatically mean a problem for the long-term investment thesis.
Does anyone have CrowdStrike in their portfolio? And did anyone take advantage of the drop after the outage to buy?
