Innodata $INOD has made me quite happy over the past month. The stock has added about 35% since the beginning of September, and I bought it just a month ago when I did an analysis of the company.
Innodata doesn't develop any chatbot, but it supplies large technology companies with data for training and testing their AI models.
And it's working quite well so far. In the second quarter, revenue grew 58% year-over-year to 92.1 million dollars.
In September, the stock was also stirred up by news that Innodata could collaborate with Meta on its new AI agent Muse. Neither company has directly confirmed it yet, but investors reacted quite strongly to that possibility.
Now there's another piece of news. Innodata has opened a new lab focused on humanoid robots. There, using special cameras, it will record the movements of people and robots, and then offer the data to companies developing robots.
This seems like a fairly sensible expansion of the business. You see, it's not enough just to manufacture robots; someone also has to teach them to move properly and interact with their surroundings. And that's exactly what Innodata wants to make money from.
Of course, it will depend on how many orders this new area actually brings. But for now, I'm satisfied with my purchase and I'm curious where the company will move in the coming years.
Does anyone have Innodata in their portfolio? And how do you generally view companies that don't develop AI models themselves but supply data for their training? Do you think it will be possible to make money from this in the long term, or will the big tech companies eventually manage to do it themselves?
