Novo Nordisk raises its outlook for the third time this year; shares climb 6%

Novo Nordisk $NVO climbs after raising its outlook! About time...

Novo Nordisk really needed this quarter after two years of disappointment. The company beat expectations on almost all major metrics and raised its full-year outlook for the third time this year. As a result, shares are up 6%.

Wegovy in tablet form is not just an addition to injections; it is starting to become a genuine growth driver. Tablet sales are rising faster and can already offset weaker performance by the injectable version in the US and pricing pressure on older products.

This is a major shift from a year ago, when the company was struggling to meet its outlook and losing market share to Eli Lilly $LLY.

At the same time, I’m not getting carried away with optimism, even though I’m still holding the shares. 2026 is still a year of resetting for Novo, and even after raising its outlook, we’re talking more about stagnation than a return to any kind of exceptional growth. Lilly is still rapidly gaining new patients with its Foundayo pill, so the competitive battle over obesity treatment pills is in full swing.

There is enormous competition in this sector. I’m not afraid to say that unfair practices are commonplace. And in this environment, $NVO doesn’t stand much of a chance against $LLY or $PFE. I own the stock and I’m deep in the red. I missed my chance with $LLY at 300$ 😎

60k, average price $49, 10-year horizon, holding, I believe :-)

I’m still holding too. My average price is $51.
