Foxconn reported record sales earlier this week, leading shares in the semiconductor sector higher. Shares of $MU, $NVDA, $ASML and $KLAC, for example, rose significantly . I think it's great news and I'm happy for $ASML stock as it's up 10% this week.
Do you have any of these stocks in your portfolio?
Shares of $NKE are down about 30% over the past year and the company is not doing well, but the opposite is true for Adidas. In fact, $ADS.DE shares are up more than 30% over the past year. I personally don't like this sector at all and I don't have Nike or Adidas in my portfolio.
Shares of $O and $VICI did not grow much last year, but $NVR did very well. I recently came across NVR REITs and I have to say I've been quite impressed with their performance. The company has been growing steadily and the stock is not as expensive as it used to be. I still want to do a more detailed analysis, but so far I find this stock quite attractive.
United Airlines was the fourth best performing stock in the SP500in 2024 . The stock is up over 130% in the last year, which is quite a bump and honestly surprised me. I don't have airline stocks in my portfolio and don't want them, but $UAL is growing nicely.
Shares of $RIVN are up about 20% today as the company beat analysts' expectations for deliveries. I've had $RIVN stock on my watchlist for a long time , but I still haven't bought. I don't want to take a big position, but if the stock gets back to that $13 level again, I'd buy a little something.
Investors, what is your strategy for the next weeks, months?
I don't buy specific US stocks anymore, but I still regularly overbought $CSPX.L and BTC. Europe is still pretty cheap for me, so maybe I'll keep buying and save the rest of my money for a possible correction in the US.
I wonder where you are getting the confidence that there will be a major drop and that it will be anytime soon. Do you know something that the rest of the investors don't know? How long will you possibly wait before you change your mind? Where will you keep your cash parked to keep it from being eaten up by inflation? What attracts you to Europe, where most companies are struggling and not at all comparable to the US market? What do you see as a possible way out of their situation there?
Yesterday in South Korea, a Boeing 737-800 tragically crashed. It is not yet known what caused the crash, but if it was Boeing's fault, it could be a big problem for the company. We'll see how $BAstock reacts after the market opens today . I wouldn't buy their stock for my portfolio.
How do you feel about the current situation surrounding Boeing?
This sector is too cyclical for me and Boeing is a great example. That chart looks really scary and in the final analysis the stock isn't even growing much.
I see that $RMS.PAstock is doing quite well this year compared to $MC.PA. I think Hermès is a great company with a nice business, however the stock is really expensive right now and a bigger drop would have to come for me to start thinking about buying.
What do you think about the recent news that FedEx is planning a spin-off of its freight division?
It's good news for investors, which was reflected on the chart, as the stock rose more than 9% following the news. I don't have shares of $FDX in my portfolio, but I think FedEx is a great company and could be a great stock for portfolio diversification.
FedEx doesn't make sense to me anymore, as it was recently overtaken by Amazon and is much better at it. So if I had to pick a stock from this sector, it would be $AMZN.
I see that $JNJstock is already down 9% this year and the stock hasn't risen much in the last 5 years. I've never been interested in this company and never invested in it, but I'm glad for that.
For a couple of years I had JNJ in my portfolio as a "security" but when I started investing in the index again I had no reason to leave it there. Generally, I have left the whole farm sector because I have no expertise there, which is very difficult to get from commonly available materials.
Does anyone have $SYK or $MDTstocks in their portfolio ?
Both companies are focused on medical device and technology manufacturing, which is very important and needed these days. Overall, I'm more interested in $SYKstock , but the price is not low at all right now.
I see that $LMTstock has been down a lot lately. For me a great company that still has potential and the stock is getting to an interesting price in my opinion, but I won't be buying just yet.
Great company, I have a smaller position but more money in $LRCX.
